花了2天的时间 读了3遍 华尔街疯人日记 第一感觉是震撼 第二感觉是震撼 第三感觉还是震撼 很有必要做个记录 一是作为参考 二是跟大家分享
本书的主角 Todd Harrison 出身于长岛 少年时代基本贫寒（父母离异）13岁开始在面包店打工 高中时期变得爱打架 大学时候兼职酒保 但是成绩优异 获得在摩根斯坦利 伦敦的实习机会 偶然的机会在毕业之后进入 MS option desk 开始成为交易组的一员 历经坎坷之后成为最年轻的VP 后跳槽至galleon group 对冲基金 （就是后来因为内幕交易出事儿的那家）任Derivatives managing director 后转投 Cramer Berkowitz hedge fund 最后任president 经历了一切之后 创建minyanville 网站并任CEO
几个重点
todd 成绩优异 善于抓住机会。 大学期间经常获得第一 进入Morgan stanley 虽然得益于姨妈的介绍 但是自己的能力也是重要的砝码。 刚刚进入交易组的时候 什么都不懂 甚至搞砸了几笔交易 但是关键是他从未放弃努力， 终于抓住机会证明自己 开始赚钱 虽然经历了2年无作为的时光 1年买沙拉 1年栽跟头 但是终于开始成为一个上路的年轻trader 甚至开始变得aggressive
日记中对于很多东西都轻描淡写一笔带过 但是他在交易组度过的前两年 开始栽跟头和拉关系的过程 连续2年拿2.8W 美金的底薪 第三年才有机会开始自己做交易 然后经历了一个迅速成功的过程 这些都没有详细的记录 但是我们可以想到 那是怎么样的一个过程。 Todd每天几乎是第一个来到公司的 6点钟当trading floor 还没有人的时候他接到了 Cramer 的电话 那个后来成为他合伙人的重要客户 As fate would have it.
93年 24岁 奖金7.5W 这已经是他在Morgan stanley option desk的第三个年头了
94年 奖金15W 96年栽了跟头 输了7位数 然后重拾信心

这一段写的很少 仅仅提到了他开始做的第一单 以及失败的单子 但是可以想象 这3年当中 他是经历的怎样的过程
拼命努力 抓住一切机会跟其他的 traders 学习 努力学习各种课程 虔诚的阅读WSJ 他没有解释他是如何成功的 但是成功永远不是存在于侥幸 尤其是在Wallstreet
第7年 因为政治斗争被排挤 跳槽至 galleon group 对冲基金 任derivatives managing diretor 离职morgan stanley 时奖金50W
丛林法则 政治斗争永远是不可避免的 尤其是在大机构 当别人踩着你的头上位的时候 Todd 没有写他是如何抗争的 但是结果是他失败了。
但是跳槽这件事更说明了 1 他是这个领域的专家 一家受欢迎的新基金愿意挖他过去并且成为MD 2 他在MS 7年的磨练 工作上建立的人脉发挥了重要的作用
但是在galleon 等待他的并不是一帆风顺
在Galleon 他熟悉了对冲基金的法则 开始给基金赚钱 也开始变得贪婪 正如电影华尔街里面 gorden 说的 "greed is good"
然而直到2000年 他在galleon 收入都取决于他自己管理的一个portfolio 的收入 根据他自己的表述 只有5w 美金的奖金
正如他离开了morgan stanley 一样 这次他离开了 galleon 这个顶尖的基金 去了 cramer berkowitz 这个小一点的基金 条件是成为合伙人
职业的走向在于你不断做出的选择 可能对 也可能错 问题是要选择 而你的选择取决于你到底想要什么

在Cramer Berkowitz 期间 Todd开始奉行精英政策

让我感觉比戏剧化还要戏剧化 也许生活就是这样 唯一能做的就做好当前的事情

然而最终Todd 还是撑过来了 过程不再复述了 重要的是他做到了
